Professional Disclosure Statement Tenea Smith, M.A. Professional Counselor Associate, R9523 CADC, OR 21-R-39 Supervisor: James Brown, LMFT & LLPC All About Recovery Counseling Brookings, Oregon 97415 541-373-9718 / allaboutrecoverycounseling@outlook.com Philosophy and Approach: I believe in using evidence-based practices with clients as appropriate. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is my first choice. I believe individuals can examine their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with guidance from a counselor, which helps them move toward their desired results in the counseling session. I also believe in Solution-Focused Methods and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Motivational Interviewing is a tool I use for those who are unsure as to what the next step may be in their journey to recovery. Formal Education and Training: I hold a master’s degree in counseling from Argosy University, San Francisco Bay Area. Major coursework included counseling courses, including counseling skills, multicultural studies, substance abuse, maladapted behavior, ethics, confidentiality, human growth and development, and couples and families. I had the opportunity to work with Seriously Mentally Ill clients and Dialectical Behavioral Health Groups. I have a background in delivering client-centered counseling. My pre-degree hours were completed at a County Mental Health Agency. I worked to understand client needs and foster growth and development with quality, evidence-based counseling skills. I am a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I (21-R-39) in Oregon. I have over 10 years of experience working with ambivalence, procrastination, and substance abuse. I have in-depth knowledge of the placement systems and co-occurring disorders. As a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Nevada, I was able to expand my scope to co-occurring disorders and practice beyond substance abuse only to treat the whole person. As a Registered Associate with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (Board), I abide by its Code of Ethics. I am supervised by James E Brown a Licensed Professional Counselor- C3204, and Marriage and Family Therapist- T0864, who will oversee my clinical work and will meet with me regularly in group and one-on-one sessions. If any complaints/concerns arise, I will be happy to provide a way to contact my supervisor if requested. Fees: My fee is 1) $130 per 53-minute face-to-face Zoom session, and 2) $45 per hour for a group session 3) Fees, unforeseen will be discussed before services are delivered.
